M’s room makeover! Part 2.1

This is only part of her room because the rest isn’t organized yet but all the furniture is back where it belongs. Someone needs to do some serious purging… It has taken a long tie to get here but having CFS and Fibro, I don’t care. I’m proud of myself : )

M’s room makeover Part 2!

I’m still alive : ) I’m enjoying a few days off work and cleaning out my garage and organizing it…Making room to throw more stuff in it!! We worked on M’s room yesterday and painted the whole thing. I have to say, actually painting wasn’t bad. It’s all that prep work…tape, moving stuff…yuck! Here’s the color she picked. We bought it ages ago from the Home Depot but never got around to painting it. M really helped a lot! Here she is being silly! And then we had dinner! Steak sandwiches. We would have used pita bread but didn’t have any. Steak, spinach, onion, cheese, garlic....

Michaela’s Room Makeover ~ Part 1.2

Well I had intentions of removing what little carpet was left in her room: in the closet, under her dresser, the shelves and her entertainment stand. That didn’t happen. I took everything out of her closet and took that carpet out. Then I had to remove the tacks from the perimeter of most of the room, because I hadn’t done it yet. So while we were at it, I decided to sort through her closet stuff. Needless to say, it took a few hours and I’m done for tonight. I’m very proud of the fact that she let go of a few things easily but not enough in my eyes (do they ever?). We will transitions some items to the garage for now. Good alternative to keeping in her room (for me) and good alternative to throwing (for her). We have a bag to toss and a...

Project – Closet – Part 1

Phase 1 of getting a new closet is cleaning the old one out. Now while I won’t be building for a while, I needed to clean out my closet. You’ll see why. Normally, I would never ever post a before picture but since I have an after picture, why not. This is the closet in my room, small. I put the drawers in there because with a king size bed, there was no other place to put it, seriously. Can’t get anything because everything falls all over the place.   The drawers were breaking so I removed the middle one which was completely broken and left the others. We still have some things that will move (the boxes) but after 2 big trash bags going to charity and a small one going to the trash, we have:     YAY!!! So glad to have a closet I...

Garlic Chicken

Made this last night and it was so delicious! We used cilantro instead of  parsley and didn’t use as much lemon as they suggested. I’m hungry!!

Michaela’s room makeover ~ Planning stage

So we have finally have come to the point where we are ready to start on her room….what a HUGE delay. I was supposed to have this done a year ago! We are going to finish ripping out all her carpet and repainting the walls first. We already have the paint. She wants a mix of pink and purple so 2 walls will be pink and 2 walls will be purple. Part of the wall will have that magnetized paint under it so she can hang posters with magnets..not tacs, no gummy stuff, no tape…yay! The next step will be her bed. Because of her room size, we are going to build her a loft bed. I found and fell in love with Ana White’s site, Knock off Wood. I have been reading and having so many ideas for over a year because of her site. So back to the bed! This is the one...

Food!!

So I haven’t been up to much of anything but I figured I should blog about something. I turned over the cooking to Mike. I like cooking, don’t get me wrong but he looooves it. And this is what we’ve been having: Homemade mac and cheese with bacon.  I don’t like mac and cheese..I don’t even like elbow noodle but this I loved!     For my birthday last week, we made a regional specialty from Alsace (where I’m originally from). It was awesome! We need to figure out how to make dough better though but oh yum….it’s basically cream, onions, pepper and bacon. Can it get any better?     Mike made these gyros with ground beef. Next time, we are going to try steaks I think…although this was a cheaper...

Chalkboard Fridge

So instead of cleaning my house, I decided (on Monday) to turn my fridge into a chalkboard. Step 1:  Take all the magnets off and clean it. I also put painters tape on the parts I didn’t want to paint. (Pardon the light specks. My kitchen is very narrow and that’s the best angle I could get.)     Step 2:  I put some magnetic primer. This stuff takes forever to mix well and takes 3 coats. Now I don’t know if anyone else has a trick about this but I couldn’t get this stuff to wash off so I had to toss the roller and the pan.  The magnetic primer is pricey but I still wanted to use my fridge as a magnet and I knew with paint on it, it would never work.     Here it is, all primed and ready. (Thank goodness for...

We have a blizzard!

It’s a blizzard here! Here are pictures to explain it all! I shoveled the front walkway..only a bit… The dead end street..to the right… To the left…. Here are some pictures of the dogs. I was going to take some of Phoebe but she went pee and ran inside…wussy. Snow’s in there somewhere! See how red Snow’s stomach is? She was out for all of 2 minutes. Gazelle? It’s in my face! I had to pee…stop taking pics! I think I’ll stay near...

M’s room makeover.

Well the plan today is to rip out the carpet in the kid’s bedroom and paint it. I’m already tired just thinking about it! This stupid flu bug has worn me down so much! I don’t even want to think about the rest of the house that is an utter disaster area. I think the President needs to declare a state of emergency. Can I just sit out in the sun instead?...
