So while googling for stupid attractions on the road to and from Louisiana, I ran across something that talked about Bonnie and Clyde and Louisiana.
Infamous Bonnie and Clyde. There is a lot of information online about the crimes they committed and lots of pictures, some are morbid.
Here are a few shots I picked from around the web:
Bonnie and Clyde! She was beautiful, wasn’t she?
Here’s the famous picture of her goofing off that led everyone to believe she was a gun totting, cigar smoking gal.
And here’s the car after the ambush. If you look on the web, you can see pictures of the car with them still in it and even mortuary pictures of them in pretty bad shape. The car (and the shirt that Clyde was wearing) is in Las Vegas.
So what exactly did we see???
Well, did you know they were ambushed and killed in Louisiana? We didn’t either! It’s around 8 miles (seemed longer to us) south of Gibsland Louisiana, on highway 154. Keep driving south, you’ll find it on the right hand side.
It’s unfortunate that the monument itself has been vandalized and shot at, plaques have been stolen.
We went there Monday 23rd of May 2011….77 years later to the day that it happened. What a coincidence!
It’s in the middle of *nowhere*.
I have to say, that was really cool to be able to say that we were at the spot where they died. There is a museum in Gibsland. I’m not sure what they had but I wanted to see the car….a trip to Vegas may be in order ;)
This was much cooler than a giant ball of yarn or upside down root beer cup I saw online…

If u decide to go to Vegas, stop by L.A. ;)
Yes, very interesting. Now you’ve got me curious about the morbid photos, tho. . . .
Ah yes, in the middle of nowhere, where it was easier for them to ambush them. Such a pity that those two went the directions in life that they did…
