Day 12 – Love lets the other win

Link to Day 12

This is such a timely lesson today because it talks about Jesus’ sacrifice for us and tomorrow is Easter Sunday!

It also reminds me what the Bible says about the tongue.

But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. ” ~ James 3:8-10

I really like this next verse that Day 12 pointed out:

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” ~ James 3:17

Pure, peaceable, gentle: wow!

Mike and I are wired differently. The way I do things make no sense to him and the way he does things seems overly complicated. It took a while but I have realized that sometimes it’s really not worth arguing how to do things that really have little importance in the grand scheme of things.

I used to always want to stand my ground and be right but seriously, is it really that important to be the one that’s right for stupid stuff? Most of our fights are because of something stupid, because one or both of us won’t compromise.

For me, sometimes, it’s really hard to not do things the way I want to do them and to do it the way Mike wants to. I have been forcing myself to compromise over the last year and what I’m finding now is that it’s not as hard as it once was to do things his way instead of mine.

Today’s dare is to give in an area. I can’t really think of an area where we don’t see eye to eye. Usually it’s nothing of importance. When we come across a situation like this, I’ll edit this post.
