Zoo trip before school starts
We went to the zoo this morning at were there at 7:30am! No one else was and it was nice to have the zoo to ourselves for a little while.
We started by going to see the elephants. This is Sneezy, the male of the zoo. The picture isn’t great but it was hard with the barriers.
He did however sneeze on me and within 5 minutes of being at the zoo, I was dirty. Hey! Just like at work!! :)

This bird was beautiful. I don’t remember what it’s called now but apparently, at one point, there were only a dozen in the wild! They have hatched over 2000 in captivity since the 60s.

Hummingbird? What? I have never seen one before in my life. Mike pointed it out and I had to try to snap a picture. It was fun to watch!

Phoebe has a lump removed
I took Phoebe to work with me yesterday to give her a bath. I saw a lump on her chest and had a doctor look at it. I was half expecting it to be allergies since she’s been having issues with that this summer.
The doctor aspirated it and looked at the cells under the microscope: possible mast cells. She recommended we remove it and send it off to the lab to see exactly what it is :(
Since they had time, we did the surgery right then and there. I don’t have pictures before or during because I just didn’t think about it.
But this is after :(
We will know early next week what exactly it is. Trying to not think about it until we know for sure.

Park day!
M has been nagging about the park but the heat has just been unbearable.
Finally, today, clouds in the sky so we went! It was only 90F and the breeze was cool and awesome.
We took Snow with us ♥
I’m obsessed with the sky, the clouds, the stars and the moon lately…not sure why but love this…
And this….(we’re in the middle of a drought, can you tell?)

M’s room makeover Part 2!
I’m still alive : )
I’m enjoying a few days off work and cleaning out my garage and organizing it…Making room to throw more stuff in it!!
We worked on M’s room yesterday and painted the whole thing. I have to say, actually painting wasn’t bad. It’s all that prep work…tape, moving stuff…yuck!
Here’s the color she picked. We bought it ages ago from the Home Depot but never got around to painting it.
M really helped a lot!

And then we had dinner! Steak sandwiches. We would have used pita bread but didn’t have any. Steak, spinach, onion, cheese, garlic. mmmmm!

Mount Rushmore!
So overdue…Mount Rushmore!
I have always wanted to see Mount Rushmore. I was so excited to go.
I’m not sure why everyone was saying we would be underwhelmed when we got there. I surely wasn’t.

Night Sky
I’ve been so MIA lately…blog fail!
Mount Rushmore will be here soon, I promise.
Today, we had an annular eclipse.
I’m sure it was awesome….we didn’t get to see it, *snif*
So instead, I played around and took pictures of the night sky. Clouds at night fascinate me. They are so beautiful. I wish I had gotten my settings good for the first few because they were really gorgeous.
I could lay out there and watch them roll by all night…and I would…except the mosquitoes would bleed me dry. I got eaten alive and I was out there 15 minutes.
Final score: mosquitoes: 5 – me: 1
