Well I had intentions of removing what little carpet was left in her room: in the closet, under her dresser, the shelves and her entertainment stand. That didn’t happen.
I took everything out of her closet and took that carpet out. Then I had to remove the tacks from the perimeter of most of the room, because I hadn’t done it yet.
So while we were at it, I decided to sort through her closet stuff. Needless to say, it took a few hours and I’m done for tonight.
I’m very proud of the fact that she let go of a few things easily but not enough in my eyes (do they ever?). We will transitions some items to the garage for now. Good alternative to keeping in her room (for me) and good alternative to throwing (for her). We have a bag to toss and a bag for donation.
So first, the floor. I have shared this kind of photo before but we ripped up the carpet and there are still tiles under the tacks. Why?? Stupid house flippers! The only thing holding those tiles down are the nails from the tacks so it’s not like they are glued and won’t come up. I just don’t understand and it baffles me every time I have pulled carpet up in this house. We have only 2 rooms left with carpet and I am sure we will find the same thing under that carpet.

We’ve always had these tubs to separate her things. How does so much stuff come out of that small closet? We’re not even showing you what’s on the shelf whose existence was not acknowledged today (mostly board games anyways).

So this is M’s closet now. I’m not sure if we are going to keep those tubs, they are handy but an eyesore. The trash bags are stuffed animals.
Look!! Empty drawers! A few of them are almost empty so I’m a happy Momma!

One cool/weird thing we did find was this playdough. I don’t know if you can tell but it looks like the top has crystals on it. I’ve never seen anything like it.

So why am I showing you all this even though it’s a small step? It’s not like I did the whole room in 2 days or anything. Part of it is that I can only do little bits at a time. Another part is that, if I can do it and accomplish my goals with this house, no matter how slow, anyone can do it! It may be 10 years before I get everything done but hey!
