:: Making a translucent box ::
You need to have PSP for this tutorial. I'm not sure how it works for Photoshop.
1. Start out with a picture of your choice. This is the one I chose:
2. Click on your rectangle shape tool. If the rectangle isn't the one that's shown here, click the down arrow and select rectangle.
3. Make sure you have your foreground color set to the border color of your choice and the background color to nothing.
4. Your layer palette should look like this:
The vector layer is your rectangle.
5. Right click on the vector and click on "Convert to raster layer" :
6.Click on the magic wand tool
7. Click inside your rectangle. Your image should look like this:
8. Go to Layers > New Raster Layer. This will add a new layer to your image.
9. Now choose your background color, greys usually work well for this but depending on what kind of background is behind it, you can matching colors, Light pink on a red backgound etc... Fill your selection. Your image should look like this:
10. Change the opacity of that layer and you're done.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it was easy to follow. Comments and suggestions are welcome
