:: Grid ::

This tutorial is to show you how to make a grid and incorporate it into your image. I used Paint Shop Pro 9 but I'm sure the jest of it is the same for Photoshop. You need to know a little bit about psp to do this tutorial.

1. Open a new image 10x10, transparent.

2. Get your paintbrush tool with these settings:

3. Draw only 2 lines to your square:

It doesn't really matter which 2.

4. Next open the image you want to use the grid on and get your freehand tool with a feather of 30.

5. Draw approximately the shape of the area you want the grid on. Remember to make is a little smaller since you have the feather. It will expand.

6. In your color palette, go to patterns and select the grid you made earlier.

7. Flood fill your selection with the grid.

8. You can change the opacity and play around with the type of layer (overlay, burn, etc...). Here is what you end up with (image on the left is overlay, the one on the right is dissolve):

And it's done, you can always change the rotation of the grid to have a different effect like this one:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that it was easy to follow. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
